What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Engineer position at Cadwell?
The Service Engineer is responsible for the troubleshooting and repair of specific Cadwell products. Also provides technical phone support to customers and vendors in resolving hardware and software issues, as well as pricing. Products are Class I and II medical devices, therefore meeting quality and productivity standards is an essential requirement of the position. This position is located at company headquarters in Kennewick, WA.
Key Duties / Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and perform repair operations on all Cadwell products, completing work independently and in a timely manner
- Provide technical telephone support to customers and vendors regarding specific Cadwell systems and applications
- Follow established technical and administrative policies and procedures, including pricing
- Provide technical guidance and training within Service team
- Provide 24/7 application phone support, as applicable as part of rotating phone coverage
- Maintain work area, tools, and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, and follow prescribed safety procedures and regulations
- Complete required documentation and paperwork
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
Education / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required
- 2 years of experience in equipment service, electronics repair, or related experience preferred
Job Knowledge / Requirements:
- Familiar with electronics fundamentals, including: resistor, capacitor, and other electronic components; soldering; component removal and replacement; schematics and other electronic documentation
- Familiar with computer hardware architecture (e.g. hard drive, mother board, operating system, replacing components); and with software drivers, (e.g. interface with host pc, connect device with laptop/pc to drive the device); Dell certification a plus
- Computer skills: MS Office and Google applications, query tools, and database systems and applications
- Good oral and written communication skills, including receiving, understanding, following and explaining oral and written instructions, technical information, procedures and schematics
- Complete work both independently and as an effective member of the team, adapting to changing requirements, deadlines, and priorities as needed
- Interact with others with a professional and solutions-oriented approach, including technical phone support with co-workers and customers
- Must develop and maintain knowledge of Cadwell product lines and how they are used by clinicians, and be able to effectively troubleshoot computer hardware/software issues; Must successfully complete training requirements
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
- Positions working with Cadwell equipment generally may require some reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, standing, walking, sitting, hearing, visual acuity, color vision, and 2-way written/verbal communication. More specific details may be provided as needed or requested.
- Use of computer and various hand and electronic tools
- Work outside normal business hours required to meet business needs, including part of rotation for phone technical support
