Role and Responsibilities
SUMMARY
Multi-task position responsible to assist with collecting data and performing detailed accounting analysis to support the preparation of routine Sales, Use and VAT returns, support the preparation of the US/Canadian income tax returns and quarterly US/Canadian income tax provisions. Other international tax activities to be performed. The ideal candidate should assist with the preparation of company workpapers and performing detailed accounting calculations in support of US/Canadian tax work-papers; Assist controller (Sarasota, FL) as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with bookkeeping/collecting data and performing detailed account analysis and compilation of work-paper documentation for US/Canadian tax provisions and US/Canadian tax returns.
- Assist with preparation and analysis of quarterly and annual US/Canadian tax provisions.
- Assist in preparation and review of financial statements.
- Responsible for running Avalara invoice import process and reviewing returns being filed each month; reconcile sales tax accounts.
- Coordinates international tax activities, to include customs and duties issues.
- Prepares and assists with the compilation of work-paper documentation for US/Canadian income tax returns.
- Preparation of 1099 forms annually.
- Manage tax audits.
- Assists and completes forms for monthly, quarterly, and annual Sales, Use and VAT tax filings. Perform robust analysis and research to support the filings and minimize tax.
- Assist and support the audit process with CAE Montreal US/Canadian Tax Team.
- Organizes and maintains tax records for special projects as assigned.
- Maintains and updates tax calendar.
- Organizes and maintains tax records and conducts tax studies and special projects (Earnings and profits and cost base calculations).
- Support sales order entry team with sales tax questions.
- Update Salesforce & Avalara systems for new products with sales tax code.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, interactive environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Ability to perform successfully in a fast paced, multi-task environment and meet compliance deadlines timely and independently.
- Knowledge of HFM accounting systems.

- Avalara software
- Deltek software
- Must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) with Accounting or Taxation major. Master of Science in Taxation (MST) desirable.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of bookkeeping is essential. Knowledge or experience with HFM is a strong asset.
- Minimum five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPA is an added benefit but is not required.
- Ability to read and write reports and business correspondence in English is required. French language skills desirable but not required.
