What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Caesars Southern Indiana?
JOB SUMMARY:
This position serves as the buyer for the property.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Coordinates the procurement of materials and services for the company.
- Meets with vendors and operators to discuss requirements and specifications.
- Leads vendor bid process, including preparing bid packages, analyzing bids, and making recommendations to the operations team.
- Maintains current costs data and makes recommendations for substitute materials where cost savings, improved quality and/or delivery will result.
- Produces purchasing project status reports for all projects.
- Researches new commodities and sources.
- Adheres to administrative controls procedures on all purchase orders.
- Edit purchase requisitions. (Generate and deliver Purchase Orders to vendors and obtain delivery confirmation.)
- Works directly with suppliers to develop strong relationships and troubleshoot delays in the procurement process.
- Sources and develops minority vendors.
- Submits samples to operators for evaluation.
- Resolves adjustments with vendors, maintains cost data on purchased products and maintains records relating to product and supplier.
- Assists Purchasing Manager in the administration and communication of purchasing activities.
- Assists in contract execution, implementation, vendor on-boarding and due diligence reviews.
- Assists with the instruction of purchasing software (Oracle).
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- College or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Experience with Oracle purchasing software is preferred
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Accuracy and attention to detail is necessary.
- Excellent organization and communication skills both written and oral
- Proficiency required in the use of Microsoft Office especially Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Microsoft Outlook
- Possesses a high degree of professionalism, tact, and persistence.
- Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team.
- Excellent phone skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time (minimum of four hours).
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency while performing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the casino; from floor to floor either by stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalator.
- Must be able to lift, carry and/or push a minimum of 40 lbs.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, bend, twist, turn, push, pull, grasp objects and the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.
- Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondhand smoke, dust, loud noises, and bright lights.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
