Job Description: Coordinador del Centro Cultural
Compensation: $20/ hour
Approx. 20 hours per week
The Coordinador del Centro Cultural oversees the daily operations of Café Puente’s cultural center and café. The coordinator has the very important job of welcoming guests to Café
Puente and explaining the mission of Café Puente to new guests.
The Organization:
The mission of Café Puente is to cultivate a vibrant multicultural center where Spanish is the primary language, Latin American cultures are celebrated, and all are welcome.
Responsibilities:
- Greet all guests and make sure they feel welcome and comfortable in the café
- Open and close the café each shift which sometimes includes managing volunteers who are there to assist with café duties
- Bring in fresh pan dulce from local markets
- Serve coffee and pan dulce to guests
- Clean and organize the café – includes sweeping, mopping, cleaning tables, cleaning the bathroom regularly, washing dishes, washing windows, etc.
- Assist Directors in recruiting and training new volunteers to be competent to run the café and confident to answer people’s questions about Café Puente
- Communicate consistently with Directors regarding community feedback
- Stay up-to-date on Café Puente’s events, programs, and general plans in order to confidently inform café guests about what we offer
- Order new café supplies when needed
- Update and improve upon the opening and closing café procedures
- Update the café attendance spreadsheet each shift
Required Qualifications:
- Fluent in Spanish
- Passion for creating a welcoming space for the Latinx community and non-Latinx community members who want to build cross-cultural connections in Spanish
- Dedication to Café Puente’s mission to offer a vibrant multicultural center in Spanish where Latino cultures are celebrated and all are welcome
- Outgoing personality that naturally engages with new people
- Excellent organizational skills
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Experience hosting or serving in a restaurant environment
- Experience working in non-profits or other public agency
- Experience serving the Latinx community
- Bilingual English/ Spanish skills
Schedule:
- Every other Tues, 5:30-8:30 pm, Wed-Fri, 3:00-7:45 pm; Sat, 8:30am-1:45 pm
- Ability to work some mornings and during events about once every two months
- Schedule is potentially flexible.
