SUMMARY: The Freight/Logistics Supervisor oversees the daily activity of shipping ensuring that all products are delivered to customers on time including the sourcing and managing of all carriers. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be tech-savvy, hard-working, excellent verbal and written communication, punctual, dependable, self-motivated, self-managed, organized, and flexible.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works with Logistics Manager and Customer Service to ensure product is available to ship timely.
• Determines outgoing deliveries to multiple customers in FTL and LTL.
• Researches and sources best carriers for service and rates.
• Ensures best carrier rates without compromising service.
• Schedules all outbound deliveries with carriers.
• Follows up to ensure timely pick-up and delivery and avoid any detention charges.
• Communicates with Carriers, Customer Service and Sales with delivery issues.
• Proficient with computerized systems to research inventory, record freight transactions for all deliveries.
• Ensure compliance with DOT.
• Reviews all shipping labels and packaging to ensure that they meet federal regulations.
• Ensures that all orders are delivered in a timely fashion.
• Addresses and promptly resolves any issues with delayed shipments.
• Maintains and manages delivery schedule.
• Serves as point of contact for major distributors/carriers.
• Reports any problems, issues, and losses to manager immediately.
• All other duties as assigned or necessary.

REQUIREMENTS

• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills; verbal and written.
• Extensive knowledge of refrigerated freight industry and freight rates.
• Manages time effectively.
• Extensive knowledge of DOT regulations.
• Possesses awareness of transportation equipment and safety procedures.
• Possesses specific knowledge of the range of company products and services.
• Communicates instructions clearly and effectively.
• Exhibits knowledge of state and federal regulations for exporting goods.
• Strong team player.
• Possesses physical strength necessary to lift and move heavy boxes of supplies.
• Demonstrates high proficiency in use of inventory software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Exhibits excellent organizational and strategic planning abilities.
• Demonstrates solid problem-solving and analytical skills.
