General Position Summary
The Senior Quality Manager position directs a broad range of Quality activities to ensure that products are produced that meet all established company policies and quality standards. This position has the total authorization and the responsibility to develop, maintain and communicate all Quality Programs. Manages, trains and mentors the Quality Manager and team in the Madera plant. The Senior Quality manager works closely with and maintains positive relationships across all internal and external functions to ensure that all Quality activities are consistent with the company’s and customers’ needs. Responsible for overall Food Safety and Quality, therefore, must be an SQF Practitioner.
Education & Work Experience:
· Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year College or University with Food Science or similar field; or six plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Should have ten plus years of experience gained through similar food production industry with production standards with two of those years in a management role.
· Food manufacturing experience preferred.
· Advanced knowledge of quality assurance processes and methods.
· Familiarity with Non-GMO certification process.
· Prior experience as a SQF Practitioner for a food manufacturing facility.
Certificates / Licenses:
· SQF Practitioner, including all SQF related training and certifications
· HACCP
· FSMA Preventative Controls for Human Food
Food Safety Requirements/Responsibilities:
· Comply with all Plant, State and Federal OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF regulations.
· Conduct all verification activities to assure finished product comply with food safety and quality specifications.
· Participates in the yearly review of the food safety system.
· Ensure subordinates are trained in SQF requirements applicable to their job function.
· Assist in the maintenance of SQF and other food safety and quality system requirements.

Essential Functions
· Implements and maintains facility Food Safety and Quality Assurance Programs. Develops and leads implementation of technical plan, clearly defining the critical issues and approach to be used in resolving food safety issues.
· Functions as primary SQF Practitioner for the plant.
· Ensures that facility and products meet and maintain all required company, customer and regulatory guidelines. Responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance with all regulations.
· Leads and participates in all regulatory, third party and customer audits and inspections. Seeks to establish constructive working relationships with inspectors and auditors.
· Develops and monitors plant environmental programs and Good Manufacturing Practices so that high standards of sanitation are maintained. Works with plant leadership to resolve issues.
· Evaluates production samples to ensure that products meet organization’s Food Safety and Quality Standards.
· Leads consumer and customer complaint follow-up process for the facility.
· Monitors incoming raw materials and manufactured finished products to ensure that they meet organizational specifications and works with the purchasing department for issue resolution.
· Responsible for implementing and maintain facility-specific standardized procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
· Routinely evaluates programs, procedures and policies for compliance to predetermined standards and creates variance assessments to correct deviations and ongoing quality improvement plan for the facility.
· Leads training programs for all team members on food safety and quality related topics.
· Keeps senior leadership informed of activities that may require their attention.
· Coaches and partners with direct reports to effectively manage performance. Communicates company and cascading goals and assists in establishing goals that align with department and company goals. Provides on-going performance feedback. Actively works with direct reports to cultivate capabilities and utilize strengths.
· Performs other responsibilities as determined by business needs.
