What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Tech I - SWP position at Calhoun, County of (MI)?

Under the general direction of the Program Supervisor, performs a variety of clerical and technician duties within a team environment and provides support and assistance to the supervisor and clients.
  1. Gather confidential information from clients when presenting for services, complete appropriate form(s), and enter data into the electronic record as necessary.
  2. Perform a variety of clerical duties, including responsibilities that are associated with program-related software.
  3. Administer routine tests (e.g., height, weight, blood pressure, lead, urinalysis, hematocrit) and record results in electronic record. 
  4. Clean and prepare examination rooms as needed ensuring that each room is fully stocked at the end of the day. 
  5. Maintain client confidentiality per Calhoun County Public Health Department’s HIPAA policies and procedures.

Other Duties & Responsibilities
 
  1. Assist program as needed with updating and maintaining files, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and other clerical duties. 
  2. Participate in team and general staff meetings.
  3. Participate in public health quality programs (e.g., Quality Improvement, Quality Assurance, Quality Control).
  4. Participation in emergency exercises and training required.
  5. Assess own needs for professional growth and participates in education that increases knowledge and skills in area of responsibilities.
  6. Adhere to established policies and procedures and maintains client confidentiality.
  7. Complete or assist with completion of required program reports, as needed.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

 
  1. Knowledge normally acquired through the completion of specialized training in clinical work at a paraprofessional level.
  2. Two to four years of experience working with the general public in a human service or healthcare setting is preferred.
  3. Strong Microsoft Office and data entry skills. Must become proficient in program-related software within 90-180 days contingent on the software.
  4. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  5. Ability to multi-task simultaneous projects requiring concentration and attention to detail with frequent distractions due to people or telephone calls. 
  6. A valid Michigan driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and a personal vehicle including proof of vehicle insurance are required.
  1. Facilitate and obtain medical plans for students with chronic disease
  2. Communicate with families as necessary
  3. Fax orders to physicians
  4. Communicate plans to staff
  5. Obtain parent and school nurse signatures
  6. Obtain medication from parents to have at school
  7. Administer medication as necessary
  8. Assess vital signs
  9. Complete blood sugar checks and assist with calculating insulin for students with diabetes
  10. Provide ice packs and band aids as needed
  11. Communicate with school nurse on student assessment needs
  12. Assist with communicable disease reporting
  13. Member of MERT (Medical Emergency Response Team)
  14. Facilitate healthy habits in school community
  15. Assist with immunization reporting and follow up with families for immunization compliance
  16. CPR/AED certified
  17. Travel between schools

Salary : $16 - $20
