Position Summary
The Dispatcher is responsible for dispatching drivers and company vehicles to deliver replacement parts, equipment, tools and accessories for motor vehicles. This position has been designated as a safety-sensitive position.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Distribute fleet vehicles to company drivers for use in transporting orders to customers.
- Oversee daily vehicle condition for maintenance and safety compliance.
- Schedule vehicle repairs with local repair facilities and communicate vehicle issues to management.
- Assign keys, company credit cards, record keeping forms and parts deliveries to drivers.
- Document leave and return times, specific freight carried, and endpoint of travel.
- May communicate with drivers in transit, or with customers about the status of orders.
- Pull automotive parts and move them to the designated areas for dispatching to local delivery staff.
- Review packing lists to insure all required items are included.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High school diploma required.
- 1-2 years' experience dispatching or call center experience.
- Presents a professional image to all customers.
- Ability to exercise judgement and to work independently.
- Demonstrated organizational and comprehensive skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to handle difficult customer situations.
- Extensive product knowledge or the ability to obtain product knowledge.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license that meets the criteria under company policy.
