California Cultured is seeking a Chocolatier to join its highly skilled and motivated team. You should love chocolate as much as we do. This position will collaborate extensively with the California Cultured Team and report directly to Head of Commercial. You will interact with all departments regularly and should be able to effectively communicate with respect with all coworkers & managers and to encourage and support your fellow workers to achieve the mutual objective of excellence and customer satisfaction.
Duties include
- Use specialized equipment to temper chocolate and produce our chocolate prototypes and early iterations
- Adhere to strict safety standards and follow proper machinery, food safety, and quality procedures.
- Learning and perfecting skills necessary to work with our chocolate
- Meet inventory projections for various products. Must be able to set reasonable production goals and understand resource allocation in order to complete items on time. Must also anticipate process steps needed in order to complete all items to avoid production hiccups.
- Meet with staff to share opportunities for improvement and learn how the company can better support them.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment. Report to Head of Commercial any equipment related issues to not stall production.
- Assist in analyzing and collecting data, develop conclusions, and make recommendations with relevant data in support of product decisions.
- Collaborate with Head of Commercial to develop product model fit.
- Maintain, and follow standard operating procedures (SOP’s). May be asked to develop SOPs as well.
- Prepare and present project updates for Head of Commercial.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean lab environment
- Build out and maintain prep lists for experiments
- Maintain well detailed lab notes
- Assist with experiment design
- Assist / Create sensory science surveys
- May request some travel
About You
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen
- Commitment to achieving excellence and precision.
- Desire to grow in a changing environment with a sense of urgency
- Able to keep your station clean and organized during and after your shift
- A working understanding of sanitation codes and DOH regulations
- Must be able to lift & a carry 30 pounds
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
