Telework Information: This position is eligible for hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.
Our Opportunistic Strategies (OS) team is currently seeking an Investment Officer (IO) I or II to assist the OS team in the management of CalPERS Opportunistic Strategies portfolios and drive our CalPERS mission.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist in evaluating and underwriting investments in private debt funds to determine appropriate sector allocations for the portfolio in the OS group
- Work with the OS team in evaluating Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) investment opportunities by analyzing historical and current performance as well as comparing manager platforms
- Assist in conducting market research by maintaining market surveillance reports
Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, or CAIA.
- Microsoft applications experience with Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Programming experience (i.e. Matlab, Excel VBA, Python)
- Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical skills with keen attention to details.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Pay: $3,995.00 - $9,155.00 per month
