Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of a Sergeant, the Maintenance Worker performs janitorial duties including, but not limited to: emptying trash, cleaning restrooms, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, stripping and waxing floors, dusting and polishing furniture, cleaning windows, and snow removal during winter months. In addition, the Maintenance worker will assist with ensuring enforcement vehicles are properly maintained, delivering motor vehicles to repair facilities when necessary, performing minor repairs and adjustments on motor vehicles if necessary, helping to maintain records of vehicle repairs and maintenance, and assists with maintaining automotive supplies.

Also, the Maintenance Worker helps maintain the facility and surrounding grounds in a neat, clean manner which reflects favorably upon the Department, performs minor grounds maintenance, and other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Varies from indoors climate controlled to outside and in a motor bay area. Snow storms and inclement weather during the winter months (November through April). This will include driving conditions to and from work, and snow/ice around the facility.

The CHP utilizes their own Maintenance Worker list. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Maintenance Worker classification in order to be eligible for appointment.
