This position is for our Turlock location at Emanuel Medical Center. We service the acute care setting within the hospital as well as the Outpatient clinic. We are looking for full-time, part-time and per diem applicants.

Job Description:

The Exercise and Functional Activity Technician plays a crucial role in supporting individuals in achieving their fitness and functional goals. This position requires a blend of knowledge in exercise science, rehabilitation techniques, and functional movement patterns. The primary responsibility is to assist clients in improving their physical health, mobility, and overall well-being through targeted exercise programs and functional activities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Client Assistance: Conduct sessions as directed that will address clients' current physical condition, functional limitations, and fitness goals. This may involve adjusting activities, as directed, to adapt to client strength, flexibility, balance, and other relevant metrics.

2. Program Delivery: Assist to deliver customized exercise programs tailored to clients' specific needs, abilities, and goals, under supervision of clinical staff. Programs should incorporate a variety of exercises, including strength training, flexibility exercises, cardiovascular activities, and functional movements.

3. Instruction and Guidance: As instructed, provide clear and detailed instructions on proper exercise techniques, equipment usage, and safety protocols. Offer ongoing guidance and support to ensure clients perform exercises correctly and safely.

4. Monitoring Progress: Regularly monitor clients' progress and adjust exercise programs, as approved and directed, to ensure continued improvement and goal attainment. This may involve tracking performance metrics, conducting frequent discussions with therapist, and providing information regarding progress.

5. Motivation and Encouragement: Motivate and inspire clients to stay committed to their exercise routines and overcome challenges. Offer encouragement, positive reinforcement, and support to help clients maintain motivation and achieve long-term success.

6. Educational Support: Assist in the education of clients about the benefits of regular exercise, proper nutrition, and healthy lifestyle habits, under guidance by clinical staff. Provide resources, tips, and advice, as instructed, to empower clients to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.

7. Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other non-clinical staff to ensure coordinated care and optimal outcomes for clients. Communicate effectively and share relevant information to support the overall treatment plan.

8. Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all exercise equipment is properly maintained, sanitized, and in good working condition and maintain associated equipment documentation. Report any equipment issues or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel for prompt resolution.

9. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date communication of facility reports, as indicated. Provide timely communications to appropriate personnel for client reports, progress, outcome of exercise, and other relevant communication. Adhere to confidentiality and privacy regulations when handling client information. Complete daily clerical tasks, as assigned, to assist with department operations.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree, or working towards, in exercise science, kinesiology, physical therapy, or a related field.- Certification as a personal trainer, exercise physiologist, or similar credential / experience is preferred, but not essential (e.g., ACSM, NASM, ACE).- Strong knowledge of exercise physiology, biomechanics, and anatomy.- Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities, older adults, and athletes.- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively instruct and motivate clients.- CPR and first aid certification.- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask.- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry trends and best practices.
