    Department Summary

    Administrative Computing & User Experience (ACUx) is a department of the Information Technology Services (ITS) division. ACUx develops, provides support for, and manages various campus enterprise software applications on a variety of hardware platforms. Support is provided for all CSUSB Administrative Systems.

    The University recently migrated to Oracle/PeopleSoft's Student Administration Suite of software. This migration joins the University's Finance, Human Resources and Student Information System Applications as part of the CMS (Common Management System) sponsored by the CSU.

    Job Summary

    Under general direction of the Information Technology Services Chief Administrative Systems Officer, the Assistant Director of Administrative Computing & User Experience (ACUx) is responsible to work with the Chief Admin. Systems Officer in leading the design, development, implementation and support of all administrative systems at CSUSB including (but not limited to): Advance, Data Warehouse, Qualtrics, EMS and the data transfer between ERP systems, PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, PeopleSoft Finance, PeopleSoft Human Resources, uAchieve (PAWS & myCAP), CourseLeaf (CAT, CIM, and CLSS), RAVE and integration of all 3rd party applications with PeopleSoft Student Information System.

    The Assistant Director manages a diverse team of functional and technical resources and oversees the tasks performed by the Administrative Computing and User Experience (ACUx). This team is responsible for the development and maintenance of existing and future administrative application projects and services. The Assistant Director has direct oversight of systems analysts and programmer/analysts in the implementation of institutional wide platforms in the following areas:
    • Data Warehouse
    • Reporting Platforms (such as Tableau)
    • Human Resources
    • Finance
    • Student Finance
    • Campus Community
    • Advance
    • SOTEs
    • RAVE
    • EMS
    • Qualtrics
    • Business Intelligence
    • uAchieve
    • Application Infrastructure
    • Enterprise Data Management (Dell Boomi).



    Provides direct supervision to a team of professionals, managing the work by coordinating, assigning and developing project plans and timelines. Recommends hiring of new employees, salary actions, terminations, and performance ratings. Set assignments, establish schedules, approve timesheets and conduct annual reviews in accordance with CSUSB HR procedures. Provide overall support to staff for system testing, and mandatory compliance reporting requirements.

    The Assistant Director works closely with the Chief Administrative Systems Officer to coordinate major projects and upgrades affecting administrative systems. This position provides leadership and management for the design, implementation and support of various university enterprise administrative system applications, which includes the Oracle/PeopleSoft modules for student administration, financials, and human resources; development; identity management systems; mobile applications; auxiliary administrative systems; and a variety of integrations with campus departmental information systems. Best practices, applications, techniques, and methods in information technology management are utilized.

    The Assistant Director works with the Chief Administrative Systems Officer to manage all PeopleSoft Applications and to:
    • Provide technical expertise to all PeopleSoft users.
    • Provide resources and strategize custom reports, queries, and data extracts.
    • Manage the coordination of system integration to and from PeopleSoft to other applications.
    • Manage user acceptance testing and training sessions for PeopleSoft applications.
    • Work collaboratively/manage other analyst/programmers in designing/maintaining integrated systems with PeopleSoft.
    • Work closely with subject area experts to provide the technical expertise for the integrated systems.
    • Manage the ERS application for CO reporting.



    The Assistant Director partners with Institutional Research and Digital Transformation to develop business intelligence and predictive analytics for data driven decision making with user experience improvement in mind. The analytics are utilized to measure and improve key performance indicators (KPI) and assess these improvements.

    The Assistant Director works closely with these departments to implement and continuously improve software applications such as Tableau, the myCoyote portal and the myCoyote app with oversite in the following:
    • Manage the maintenance of user security and ensure proper user role assignments. Integrate external systems into the portal.
    • Manage the administration and maintenance of Appsian's PeopleUX application inside of PeopleSoft to provide mobile-responsive design of PeopleSoft pages for a visually aesthetic user experience.
    • Manage the administration and maintenance of myCoyote personal messaging application inside of PeopleSoft to provide targeted, personalized, and automated messages. Also manage the integration of this application with ModoLabs portal application.



    The Assistant Director is a part of the ITS Leadership Team. As a part of this team, the Assistant Director works with the Chief Administrative Systems Officer to align tasks, projects and accomplishments with the strategic goals of the university based upon the vision and mission of the university. The Assistant Director works collaboratively with all departments of ITS, the campus community, and the Chancellor's Office to accomplish these goals.

    Employment Status: Full-time, At-Will, Exempt position with the possibility of converting to permanent.

    Work Schedule

    Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, weekends and evenings may be required.

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with an emphasis in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field.

    Three to five years direct experience working in fast a paced, demanding environment, as well as advanced working technical knowledge of Oracle/PeopleSoft SIS System. Minimum one year of managerial or supervisory experience overseeing technical projects and a technical team in Higher Education or University environment.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master's Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
    • Full-time equivalent of four years progressively responsible management or leadership experience in Higher Ed. Overseeing technical projects and technical teams.
    • Ten or more years of experience working with PeopleSoft SIS/ERP and related reporting tools within the California State University System.
    • Working knowledge of CSU employment policies and procedures.
    • Program and/or project management experience using any SDLC/PDLC methodologies.
    • Strong organizational skills and customer service, team-oriented collaborative work style approach in carrying out assignments.




    Salary:

    Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,904 - $ 9,204 Per Month

    Classification Salary Range: $3,750 - $11,146 Per Month
