Grant full time position, Grade 16, 35 hours per week. Department of Community Resources, Transportation.
Performs vehicle operation work in the County's transportation services program. The work involves operating a bus and van to provide transportation service to County residents, as well as sales and disbursement of fare cards. The work requires experience and is performed under general supervision.
Answers phone inquiries to those desiring transportation, when necessary.
Advises on the benefits of, sells, and disburses fare cards.
Coordinates schedule for curb to curb services for specialized service passengers.
Transports mail using county vehicle.
Inspects, maintains and cleans vehicle.
Distributes schedules.
Assists passengers onto bus and to their destination, when necessary.
Makes deposits into depository.
Inspects farebox equipment on bus and reports any deficiencies.
Prepares daily mileage sheet.
Ensures vehicle is fueled.
Maintains schedule as set forth by pre-set route.
Performs emergency transportation, routine deviations, special trips out of County, and special events in County.
Prepares bus/van for State inspections.

- The laws, rules and regulations governing bus and van vehicle operation on public roads.

- Operate a bus or van safely and in accordance with program policies and procedures.
- Deal effectively with the public.
Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.)
Training and/or Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience:
Three years of paid vehicle operation experience.
Licenses or Certificates:
Valid Class B commercial driver's license with a Passenger Endorsement and a current Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with Federal Regulations.
Special Requirements:
CPR and first aid certificates preferred.
Must be 21 years of age.
Operation of County owned vehicle.
Subject to alcohol and drug testing.
Physical Demands:
Requires strenuous physical effort to perform manual work involving walking over rough, uneven terrain, repeated bending, climbing, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or handling objects up to 100 pounds using and assistive devise and lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
Unusual Demands:
Work is subject to inflexible deadlines.
Workers are exposed to road and traffic hazards.
