What are the responsibilities and job description for the System Engineering Manager position at Cambria?
The Systems Engineering Manager is responsible for the performance and development of the employees in the section. This includes defining and managing necessary skill competency models and gap closure plans. Our team works cross-functionally to ensure that services are available and perform optimally to continue to scale our manufacturing operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- People Management of 3 systems engineers and 2 application engineers
- Hands on contributing manager
- Hold daily standup cadence meetings with the team
- Plan and prioritize work across the team.
- Participate in the quarterly project planning meetings
- Partner with senior leadership to ensure business priorities are aligned with business priorities
- Build, operate, and maintain scalable, highly available, and resilient infrastructure
- Participate in on-call rotation to ensure critical services are available
- Analyze metrics to create actionable monitors or alerts to ensure critical services are available and performing well
- Work with product teams to ensure SLO targets are met or exceeded
- Participate in root cause analysis after incidents to ensure they won’t happen again
- Plan, implement, and lifecycle to Cambria’s compute, storage, virtualization, and server operating systems
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical degree or equivalent experience
- Motivated self-learner pushing technology solutions forward who anticipates problems and challenges
- 5 years of experience with implementing and maintaining virtualization platforms such as VMware/Hyper-V
- Solid foundation in Linux administration and troubleshooting
- Experience writing and maintaining infrastructure as code (Ansible)
- Experience with LVM/MPIO
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with CIS standards, a plus
- Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban. Familiarity and experience with ALM toolsets (Cambria uses Jira) and collaboration software (such as Slack, G-Suite, and Confluence).

Minimum Requirements:
Education: Minimum 4-year technical degree or equivalent work experience.
Experience: 10 years working in a Systems Administrator/Systems Engineering position\
Additional Requirements:
Managerial Responsibilities: Yes, up to 5 direct reports
Travel Requirements: No
Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to lift up to 50lbs, be able to work in prolonged standing and/or sitting positions.
