What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rad Tech 3 position at CAMC Health System?
Accountable for the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures as required by the Medical Staff in the diagnosis and/or treatment of patient illness.
Responsibilities
• Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures. • Corroborates patient's clinical history with and prepares patient for procedures; immobilizes and positions patient; determines radiographic technique exposure factors; evaluates radiographs or images for technical quality. • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self and others. • Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures. Provides patient education. • Practices aseptic technique and performs venipunctures as necessary. • In agreement with state statute(s) and/or where institutional policy permits, prepares, identifies and/or administers contrast media and/or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. • Verifies informed consent for and assists a licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic procedures and specialized interventional radiography procedures. May perform non-interpretive fluoroscopic procedures as appropriate and consistent with applicable state statutes. • Initiates basic life support action when necessary. • Provides practical instruction for students and/or other health care professionals. • Performs safety, warm-up, and quality control checks for all imaging rooms and equipment per established policy and procedure. Participates in the department's quality assessment and improvement plan. • May be responsible for specific quality control duties in the assigned area. • Assists in maintaining records, respecting confidentiality and established policy. • Maintains inventory and orders supplies for the assigned area, as necessary. Provides input for equipment purchase and supply decisions. • Maintains knowledge of and observes Universal precautions. • Pursues appropriate continuing education.
