Job Description

The Web Manager is responsible for oversight and maintenance of the Cameron University website. This position is a member of the Office of Public Affairs. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.

Job duties as Web Manager include but are not limited to:

  • Developing, adapting, and coordinating web-ready content to support the university’s mission.
  • Maintaining a website that is usable by all campus constituencies, including compliance with ADA accessibility standards.
  • Serving as a system-wide resource to provide expertise and support for departmental content editors and providing regular training to them.
  • Monitoring trends in interactive web technology (through web statistics, analytics) to develop proactive strategies that reflect current SEO trends.
  • Ensuring that the website is compatible with most mobile devices.
  • Providing quality assurance checks on all web pages (fixing broken links and misspellings and notifying departments of accessibility errors) before content goes live.
  • Coordinating distribution of digital information on social media and to TV monitors across campus.
  • Assisting with social media coverage to promote campus programs and events.
  • Coordinating with Public Affairs staff members for after-hours and emergency notifications and alerts on the CU website and/or social media platforms as needed.

Supervision

The Web Manager reports to the Senior Director of Public Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, multimedia design, computer science or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML coding, CSS, JavaScript, and website design and maintenance, especially involving content management systems.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, as well as be creative and energetic.
  • Ability to remediate documents (including interactive forms) using Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Basic knowledge of accessibility principles, guidelines and practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in website design and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of content management systems and responsive website design.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of accessibility principles, guidelines and practices.
  • Knowledge of multinational Software-as-a-Service companies; especially SiteImprove.

Salary Range

Commensurate with education and experience.
