Position Summary: The position of Mental Health Clinician II is full-time, based on a 40 hour week, licensed therapist who, in collaboration with the MH program managers and supervisors, provides both staff support and direct clinical services. The Clinician II has the responsibility to conduct intakes for both the Adult OP and Family & Children OP services. The MH Clinician II has responsibility for and oversight of clinical documentation for outpatient MH staff, and ensures compliance with MediCal standards. The Clinician II supports staff training, on boarding, and crisis support. The MH Clinician II maintains a caseload of 15-20 clients that may be composed of adult, TAY, and Family & Children clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct counseling services, including individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, assessment, treatment planning, and case management.
- Provide intakes for new clients and connect new clients with attending therapists and doctors.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with clinical chart requirements, SCC Medi-Cal contracts, and agency audit standards.
- Monitor and sign off on staff clinical documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Santa Clara County MediCal regulations. This includes, but is not limited to; signing treatment plans, mental health assessments, progress notes, and clinical letters.
- Report to and consult with clinical program managers and supervisors on a weekly basis. Consultation will include how staff are complying with documentation standards.
- Will provide established agency trainings and take part in development of new trainings for mental health staff.
- Take part in specialized trainings that facilitate an expertise, knowledge, and ability to train other staff.
- This position takes part in the on-call phone rotation.
- Take part in SCC 5150 certification.
- Maintains clinical expectations of 50% productivity for all Medi-Cal contracts.
- Maintain excellent communication with all agency staff, Santa Clara County Behavioral Health staff, and community.
- Upholds compliance with agency and MediCal documentation procedures, audit, and clinical practices for self and staff in the MH outpatient programs.
- Attends weekly and monthly staff meetings, group supervision, and individual supervision.
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
- Licenses – Applicant must be licensed in good standing with by the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences in the following credentials: Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) (Required).
- Applicant must hold a current California driver's license (Required).
- Education – Master’s degree (Required).
- Experience – 1 year of leadership experience and minimum of 2 years of experience working with MediCal programming (preferred).
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance, as required by Title XXII, other licensing regulations, and Caminar practices.
- This position requires some driving. A valid California driver license, reliable personal vehicle, current personal auto insurance as required by law, and an MVR sufficient to obtain and reasonably maintain insurability under agency auto liability policies are all essential job requirements.
- Must be able to pass post offer, pre-employment medical and drug tests as required under State Community Care Licensing regulations and/or agency policies.
- May be required to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
