Reports to: Director of Finance
Camino is currently seeking an experienced Account Specialist to join our non-profit organization.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day bookkeeping needs of Camino Worldwide to include Camino Community Center, Camino Church, and Camino University. The Specialist assists the Director of Finance with respect to providing accounting support to major financial accounting areas, including but not limit to the accounts payable, accounts receivable, budget maintenance, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understand and follow protocols and guidelines as they pertain to bookkeeping and accounting policies and procedures
- Bookkeeping Responsibilities, including, but not limited to manage QuickBooks Online to calculate, post, and process accounts payable and accounts receivable; reconcile bank statements; enter and send invoices for Customers, Grantors and Donors; disburse checks; record and make deposits; support ongoing and year-end reporting and compliance activities related to Grants and Donors; support monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
- Records Responsibilities, including, but not limited to maintain accurate filing systems, including confidential staff files; maintain and update insurance and other vendor information, develop and maintain regular reports via the company’s accounting system.
- Office Responsibilities, including, but not limited to process mail; answer phones; order supplies; verify cash collections and deposits; general clerical duties.
- Other duties, as assigned
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and other computer software programs.
- At least five years’ bookkeeping experience.
- Be dependable, honest, ethical, and enjoy the challenges of supporting a mission-driven non-profit organization.
- General mathematic skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and maintain confidentiality. This includes staff, customers, grantors and donors’ records and processes
- Demonstrated ability to maintain appropriate logs and records, both on computer and hand-written.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field preferred but not required
- Working nonprofit bookkeeping experience
- At least Five years’ experience in general ledger, auditing, budgeting, and financial reporting
- Knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, policies, and procedures that is reflective of the financial services industry.
PREFERRED
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English and Spanish
SCHEDULE
- Monday – Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
- Full Time, 40-hour work week
- Pay: $17-$18

REVIEW PROCESS
- Every new hire will be under a 90-day probationary period
- New hires will receive a 30- and 60-day verbal "review" to assess their performance and a 90-day written assessment/review
- On an ongoing basis, all employees will have a monthly "touch base" with their direct supervisor to set goals and review performance
- An annual review will be conducted for every employee by their direct supervisor
- This review will assess each employee on their job performance as well as our values and will determine raises
