Camp Si-La-Meo (SLM) Program Director
Department: Outdoor Programs
Reports to: Chief Operations Officer
Supervises: All Camp Si-La-Meo Staff
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt
The Camp Si-La-Meo (SLM) Director position is a leadership level position that is year-round, although camp only operates from late May - early August. During the summer season the SLM Director provides supervision and oversight to all camp aspects and operations. During the school year, the SLM Director collaborates with a team of peers to support Camp Fire Alaska's licensed school sites, while tending to budgeting, staffing and planning of Camp SLM for the upcoming summer.
Qualifications for this position include:
- Prior experience in administration and oversight of day camp or other similar youth development programs,
- Prior experience in the development and delivery of programs in a youth program setting,
- Bachelor's level degree in early education, youth development, social work, anthropology, outdoor education, recreation or similar field: (comparable work experience will be considered),
- Minimum of Twenty-Five (25) years of age to meet requirements under American Camping Association (ACA).
- Be a current Camp Fire Alaska employee.
Work Locations: Camp Fire Alaska's main office (161 Klevin Street), APU Campus during camp sessions and various before and afterschool sites as needed.
Work Schedule: This is a 40 hour/week position, typically Monday - Friday, between program hours of 7am - 6pm.
Work Environment: During the school year work will primarily done from an office space that includes working from a desk in front of a computer with both in-person and virtual meetings. During the summer season work is primarily performed in outdoor setting.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50lbs, strength and stamina to engage in physical activities in youth programming, and ability to navigate various outdoor terrains, as well as work in all types of weather in a outdoor camp setting.
