About the Company
CAMP is a Family Experience Company that helps answer the question “What should we do today?” through a unique combination of Retail & Media. Launched in December of 2018, CAMP operates nine retail locations in New York, Texas, Connecticut, Massachusetts, California, and New Jersey, and serves families everywhere via its digital platforms.
CAMP will open stores in other major markets in the coming months.
What is the Role?
CAMP is looking for a Junior Writer to work under the Chief Creative Officer to be responsible for ideating, pitching, and helping to creatively execute writing for both partnerships (ie: working with other companies) and internal work alongside the other writers and CCO. This ranges from the base concept (IE: let’s skin a bunch of hot air balloons so they look like candies, fill them with candy, and drop them in the middle of a field on Halloween then drop the GPS location in a secret tweet) to marketing and execution (IE: what should the audience’s narrative through this experience be / which candies are funniest when they are hot air balloons).
Responsibilities include staying current with all things CAMP with a focus on maintaining a consistent voice for all externally facing extensions of CAMP, from in store and magic door experiences to custom merch to anything we might dream up together.
Additional responsibilities may include copywriting for marketing materials and packaging for branded product.
What will you do at CAMP?
- Working with CCO to respond to RFPs and RFIs for partnerships team for co-branded experiences and product development
- Meeting regularly with CCO to concept and execute on partnerships
- Helping concept, develop, and script shows, with a mind to budget, timeline, and FUN
- Brainstorming, developing, and executing new co-branded partnerships that range from Physical Activations to Product Releases
- Internal and externally facing copywriting for marketing, packaging, weird press releases, captions windows
- Creating Google Slides decks to pitch ideas, both sourcing/creating imagery and writing the pitches themselves
- Ownership of “the board” - aka, keeping track of the status of ideas/pitches/executions and keeping team on track
What will you bring to CAMP?
- Minimum of 3 years work experience in experiential and/or theatrical and/or live action entertainment (you’ve done stuff!)
- Proven ability to proactively identify and address problems quickly and independently and to make quick but informed decisions.
- Comfort working independently and remotely, effectively managing your time to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate the capacity to understand the dynamics of multi-tiered storytelling both from moment to moment and across a long period of time for brand story fidelity
- Demonstrated communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to hold complex storytelling executions and maintain voice throughout shifting tides of reality as budgets cause changes to story
- Self-starter, proactive, ability to prioritize and shift focus with ease and flexibility - you are excited to dive in, build quickly and drive output
- Not afraid to jump in where needed - no task is too big or too small for you, and you are willing to throw down and help your team before you are asked
- Desire to be part of a tight-knit team looking to transform the traditional retail experience.
- Retail or start up experience is a bonus but not a requirement
- Can work remotely in certain predetermined states, including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, California, and Texas
- You are authorized to work lawfully in the United States
