Your Team The Data & Services team is a key differentiator for Mastercard, providing cutting-edge services that help our customers make smarter decisions for better outcomes. Focused on thinking big and scaling fast around the globe, this agile team is responsible for end-to-end solutions – Discover, Recommend, Act, and Improve – for a diverse global customer base. We combine traditional management consulting with our rich data assets and in-house technology to provide our clients with powerful strategic insights and recommendations. Centered on data-driven technologies and innovation, these services include consulting, loyalty and marketing programs, test-and-learn business experimentation, and data-driven information and risk management services. While specializing in the payments industry, Mastercard Data & Services also works closely with major retailers, airlines, and other enterprises, leveraging data and insights garnered from within and beyond its network. Your Role As an analytics leader joining our new Vancouver team, be a part of the data revolution. We are helping to shape the future of data-driven insights by leveraging billions of anonymized, aggregated transactions in a 10 petabyte data warehouse to help financial institutions, merchants, media, and governments make better decisions. Be part of a team that is building and optimizing our world class analytical, modeling, data sourcing, econometrics, and product capabilities, and directly contribute to the organization’s strategic vision around broadening our data/AI services. Work across themes including targeting, loyalty, forecasting, credit risk, fraud, open banking, digital identity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and more. Working with technology and data, you can expect to lead client engagements across a range of industries. You will generate hypotheses and independently structure workstreams covering client problems. As an individual contributor and at times, overseeing the day-to-day work of the project team, you will identify creative and useful analyses to address problems, synthesize analyses into clear, sound recommendations, and create effective, impactful storylines. Responsibilities within project management will include building strong relationships with mid-level client management and independently assessing client agenda, internal culture and change readiness. In leading the problem-solving process to drive high-value decisions, you will also mentor junior teammates and contribute to the firm's intellectual capital and solution development. Qualifications: • Undergraduate or master’s degree (Economics/Statistics/Mathematics with an emphasis on business applications preferred) and recommended 3–5 years of work experience • Experience in hands-on business analysis, modeling and segmentation and data mining using large volumes of granular data to deliver analytical solutions • Experience in a consulting organization or function • Experience managing and/or working with large agile teams across multiple workstreams/functions • Strong Hadoop (Hive, Impala), Python, R, MS-Excel and Data Visualization skills • Platforms/Environments: Unix, SQL, VBA, Microsoft BI Stack • Exposure specifically in payments, retail banking, retailers, restaurants, and/or airlines preferred COVID-19 Considerations We value the safety of each member of our community because we know we’re all in this together. In many locations, which may change over time, we’ve implemented a virtual hiring process and continue to interview candidates by video or phone. In addition, in some locations, only individuals who have been fully vaccinated will be permitted inside Mastercard offices until further notice.
