About us
Located in the Medical Plaza of Hackensack University Medical Center, this is a private medical office for HUMC's Chief of Surgical Oncology, Dr. Donald McCain, providing the best surgical care for patients diagnosed with Gastrointestinal, Skin, and Breast Cancers.
Dr. McCain is a board certified surgical oncologist with immeasurable experience in melanomas, sarcomas, skin cancer, breast cancers, gastrointestinal cancers (which include but are not limited to pancreatic, colorectal, gastric and hepatobiliary), and metastatic cancers.
Dr. McCain has an impressive educational background, having received his Bachelor's of Science in chemistry from C.U.N.Y., Master's of Science and Ph.D. in molecular biophysics from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NY Columbia University Graduate Programs. He continued on to receive his M.D. degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
His Surgical Residency was completed at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in NY and his Surgical Fellowship at the world renowned Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NY.
From the conception of this practice over 20 years ago, Dr McCain is a renowned surgeon who continues to extensively publish his works and collect many accolades and awards in recognition of his dedication to this practice and his patients.
As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for handling a high-volume workload in a medical office environment. A Medical Assistant's responsibilities include:
Responsibilities may include:
- wound care (i.e. removing staples, sutures, drains)
- post operative follow up
- appointment scheduling
- pre-certification of inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures
- knowledge of CPT codes and ICD 10 codes
- scribing during consultations
- ordering imaging, tests, and medications
- patient chart completion (i.e. Medical History, Medications, HPI, Vitals, Screenings, closing out office visits)
- knowledge of insurance eligibility and benefits
- knowledge of eClinicalWorks and Epic systems
- obtaining and keeping track of surgical clearances
- keeping track of payment plans, insurance payments, EFTs, EOBs, and Zero Pays
Experience in the above is preferred. Training will be provided.
