POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the general supervision and leadership of all phases of Maintenance. Ensures that cost-objectives, quality requirements, housekeeping and safety standards are met.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company Environmental, Health, Safety and Security policies, procedures and regulations, along with OSHA and other Local, State, and Federal Regulatory Agencies' laws pertaining to safety and/or employment.
- Promote, recommend and implement improvements to EHS&S practices, procedures and policies.
- Provide visible leadership and modeling of safety behaviors to create an environment encouraging safe and clean work areas.
Develop and Lead People
- Supervise, direct, train, coach, and counsel employees.
- Act as the primary communication catalyst of Maintenance employees throughout the facility.
- Promote teamwork. Be a team player. Support and participate in organizational initiatives. Communicate goals and objectives to team members. Accomplish objectives, using approved methods, policies and procedures of lean manufacturing in a continuous improvement environment.
- Work with the Maintenance Planner to assign PM's, project and overtime to match employee skill sets.
Solve Problems, Improve Operations and Efficiency
- Adjust labor resources required throughout the facility as day-to-day demands dictate.
- Follow and report progress on all designated areas of responsibility and assigned tasks. Anticipate and analyze major causes of equipment inefficiencies. Create and execute corrective action. Accurately and timely, complete all associated reporting/paperwork.
- Engage in a continuous review of methods, processes or other Maintenance factors and make effective recommendations for change to improve/ optimize quality, safety, productivity, efficiency, housekeeping and communications.
- Possess & demonstrate the ability to effectively plan, organize, manage multiple and conflicting priorities, coach, problem solve and motivate. Must be able to apply experience and offer workable solutions. Effectively coordinate and communicate with peers, on other shifts to assure continuity in the operation. Establish, coordinate, communicate, standardize, and implement best practices.
- Actively work to improve/modify Maintenance PM's as the equipment goes through its natural life cycle. Submit recommendations to the Maintenance Manager and Planner.
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum three years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing leadership role involving manufacturing processes and leading large groups of people is preferred.
- Continuous Improvement and Lean Training.
- Prefer a college degree in related field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of computer software (Windows, Office, Word, Excel).
- Working knowledge of JD Edwards and Kronos Time and Attendance.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Physical Demands, Including Travel
- Stands and/or walks 90% on a concrete floor, sits 10% of the work time. Exercises considerable visual acuity during the manufacturing process.
- Must be able to move about the plant freely to include navigating steps. Uses both hands and feet to actuate control levers and pedals while driving ruck, operating lifting apparatus to pick up unit loads of candles/packaging raw materials for transport to, placing in/on storage racks/conveyors.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds without assistance and 75 pounds with assistance.
- Must have precise coordinated movements of the fingers of both hands to grasp and manipulate small objects.
- Must make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, twist and reach out with the body, arms, and/or legs.
Work Environment
A normal, factory work environment, variable heating, cooling, drafts, operating machinery/equipment noises. Some outside work required for grounds and upkeep. Exposed to cuts from sharp metal edges, associated with working on equipment/machinery, electrical hazards from both high and low voltage systems and minor burns from overheated equipment and wax / steam / hot water distribution systems.
