Job Title: Corporate Controller
Overview: Cannabicity is an emerging business and as such, job responsibilities will be fluid, not stagnant. This job description is, accordingly, expected to change with us as we grow.
We are seeking a CPA desirous of entering NYState’s burgeoning Cannabis Industry on the ground floor. This individual is to manage and optimize our financial operations. In this role, you will be responsible for financial planning, enhancing financial processes, and developing budgets and reports. This position requires a CPA, experience with Quickbooks, knowledge and use of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) and fluency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

This position will require the employee to be on-site during work hours.
- Guiding financial decisions by developing and monitoring policies and procedures.
- Maintain records of financial transactions by establishing accounts; posting transactions; ensure legal requirements compliance.
- Evaluating and enhancing financial controls and tax return procedures.
- Analyzing and interpreting balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, and liabilities.
- Performing internal audits and financial risk assessments, as well as facilitating intervention strategies.
- Preparing annual budgets, forecasts, and reports, as well as reviewing journal entries and account reconciliation.
- Monitoring closing processes, billing, invoicing, expenses, reimbursements, and payroll administration.
- Maximizing returns on excess cash balances and improving closing and reporting cycles.
- Coordinating and recording investments and maintaining fixed asset records.
- Overseeing financial and accounting staff and analyzing profit center performance metrics.
- Documenting processes and ensuring compliance with financial management and accounting regulations.
- Follow system to account for financial transactions, modify chart of accounts as needed; follow bookkeeping policies and procedures.
- Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
- Balance subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly.
- Reconcile American Express card activity and post to QB monthly.
- Balance general ledger by preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; file reports; advise management on needed actions.
- Maintain the trial balance, by a reconciliation of general ledgers.
- Prepare annual budgets and monitor any variances from the projected budget.
- CPA required
- Experience with QuickBooks required
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) required
- Familiarity with generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS) required
- Fluent with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace
- Understanding accounting best practices

● Schedule Flexibility is a must, availability M-F 9-5:30 (8 hour day includes 30 min lunch)
- Due to the nature of this position, overtime is expected

Pay: $75,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
