ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced mid-level Interior Designer that can combine creativity and technical knowledge with the understanding to produce vibrant and functional spaces for our clients. We are looking for a designer with a background in interiors or interior architecture that wants to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary firm with growth opportunities. The successful candidate will participate in the development of interior design solutions through all project phases, programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Under the guidance of a Senior Interior Designer, lead the development of the project’s goals through the all project phases (Programming, Planning, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration).
- Demonstrate a balance of technical expertise and conceptual design skills. Applies architectural and interior design concepts.
- Communicate conceptual design ideas through 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings.
- Mentor, monitor, train and direct work of interns and less experienced team members.
- Evaluate client needs, analyze, and effectively document design objectives and spatial requirements including programming, space planning and facilities planning.
- Produce high quality drawings in conformance with project time, budget and quality parameters; responsible for development of the design of interior Architecture that includes but not limited to three-dimensional form giving of interior architectural elements, floor plans, pattern designs, elevations, details, room finishes etc.
- Coordinate design work, standards, and code compliance within the team under limited direction from Senior Interior Designer. Coordinate with other disciplines, including architecture, engineering, and consultants.
- Develop all aspects of furniture packages and specifications.
- Evaluate and select materials, develop finish palettes, consult with vendors, and inform project specifications.
- Manage project coordination with the ability to prioritize deadlines, manage communication and coordination with internal team members and consultants.
- Continually focus on learning, researching, and exploring the field of design and inform team members and peers.
- Perform field site inspections. Field site visits frequently require a physical walk-through of site.
- Attend client meetings with Senior Interior Designer(s) to gain client interaction experience and experience in client presentation skills.
- May perform other duties as required.
- Be available to travel for projects up to 50% of the work week if required.
ABOUT YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor or Master in Interior Design; Interior Architecture; Architecture or a non-professional Bachelor degree within a school offering an NAAB accredited degree.
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience working on mid to large scale projects required. Experience with healthcare, education, and/or commercial projects preferred.
- NCIDQ certification preferred.
- Strong design and technical skills as well as the knowledge of building and life safety codes required.
- Exceptional communication skills and interest to build and maintain client relationships are essential.
- Proficiency in Revit, Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Rhino (or comparable program), V-Ray is required.

The salary range for this position to be filled in the New York City office is $65,000 to $75,000 annually. This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses. We offer a full benefit package including medical, dental and vision coverage and flexible spending account options and voluntary insurances.
