Job Summary:
Transports patients from place of origin to the appointments in a courteous and timely manner. Position requires a high commitment to service excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Confirm patients the day prior to the appointment and notify patient with approximate pick-up time.
- Pick up and return of patients as per schedule.
- Stays in contact with the office to report any change in schedule including any patient cancellations.
- Assist patients to get in and out of the vehicle.
- Assist patients with wheelchair.
- Ensures the safety of all passengers.
- Works flexible shifts as work dictates.
- Deliveries, Holter monitors, and miscellaneous pick-ups as needed.
- Transport patient to hospital or specialist office.
- Checks and maintains van daily and ensures that it is mechanically safe and clean.
- Report any incident or accidents to the supervisor and management immediately.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Up to 1 year driving experience required; patient transportation preferred
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish Preferred
- Clean driving record
- Knowledge of local streets and addresses
- Customer service skills
- Knowledge, Skills and Proficiency
- Minimum Class C, CDL required
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to transport members in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
- Ability to work flexible schedule and location.
- Must be able to comply with company policies and procedures.
- Must be able to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Must have basic mechanical skills i.e. ability to check and fully inspect their vehicles daily.
Physical Requirement / Working Environment
Ability to reach, lift, carry and move objects. Ability to walk, stand, bend, sit intermittently and occasionally climb. The incumbent must be able to work extended and flexible hours and weekends as needed. Physical demands include ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
