Overview
The Canoo Mega/Micro Factory Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our high tech, proprietary vehicle manufacturing operations. This includes production management, quality control, cost reduction, safety and compliance, personnel management, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive manufacturing, with a particular focus on electric vehicle production.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans to meet production goals, quality standards, and financial objectives.
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient utilization of resources.
- Lead and manage cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, quality control, maintenance, and logistics.
- Implement and maintain lean manufacturing principles and best practices to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and manage annual operating budgets, including labor, materials, and equipment costs.
- Develop and grow a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, seeking innovative solutions to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and increase overall plant efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and other external partners.
- Coordinate with other company departments and stakeholders to align production schedules with sales forecasts, new product launches, and customer requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Experience in electric vehicle production is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of meeting production goals, improving efficiency, and reducing costs in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices.
- Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and standards, including OSHA, EPA, and ISO.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
- Microsoft Office Suite, Oracle and Siemens MES systems knowledge and use is required.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Preferred Experience
- Previous management of automotive production operations is preferred
- Diverse past leadership roles
- 10 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing setting
Travel Requirements
- Periodic travel may be required
