Applications Support Manager - Overview:

The Applications Support Manager is in charge of overseeing software applications and systems within Canopy and ensuring efficiency and quality. We are seeking an Applications Support Manager who will be responsible for providing strategic and technical leadership for lifecycle management of the computer applications and systems. This position plays a key role in the delivery of several transformative projects and process improvement initiatives and can quickly make a big impact.  This position will also be key in developing.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver integrated technology solutions that will scale as the company grows.
  • Conducts IT department interviews and makes recommendations for new hires, consultants and/or replacement personnel.
  • Review operational KPIs and drive appropriate responses to attain higher levels of performance.
  • Assist and mentor other IT team members on the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of software within established standards and guidelines.
  • Apply technical knowledge and expertise for the development, implementation, and support of business functionality.
  • Assist in developing and documenting detailed functional and technical specifications.
  • Assist Developers during issue on forms, reports and interfaces using standard development tools.
  • Adhere to standard compliance procedure for code testing and migration.
  • Assist in the creating test cases and conducting unit testing on developed code and participate in the interface and system testing.
  • Support applications through issue resolution and providing to ensure issue cause and resolutions are fully documented via our Help Desk solution.
  • Provide input to the development of project plans and timeliness in order to meet established delivery dates.
  • Ensure data integrity and reporting meets all stakeholders’ requirements.
  • Monitor daily IT alert logs for high priority exceptions and provide support and assistance to team experts.
  • Plan, organize and deliver special IT projects aimed at sustaining the company’s business activity.
  • Proven technical background with a history of relational database and data warehousing technologies.
  • Ability to design and develop using service-oriented architecture and object oriented architecture design patterns
  • Be available 24/7 for any critical application system related problems that may arise.
  • Perform other essential functions as assigned
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical co-workers
  • Demonstrated ability to work with vendors, including discussions for contracts, price negotiation, and budgeting

  • Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field and a minimum of 3 years of managerial experience.
  • In-depth knowledge with a variety of the Application Support Management, development concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience within the past ten (10) years, managing a SDLC, including business and system requirement specification, design, development, testing, implementation and support on Projects involving large and complex IT systems.
  • Experience with the following programs: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Visual Studio, Advanced SQL, HTML, CSS.
