Head Start - Family Services Assistant

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Valid Texas Driver’s license or other mode of transportation during work hours, current liability insurance

  • Experience working with families in health or social service needs preferred

    Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Comply with federal guidelines and local Head Start policies in providing children and families with Head Start services
  • Provide support services to Head Start families in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, local Head Start policies, and school policies in providing children and families with Head Start services
  • Work with Head Start staff in assessing /obtaining needs of Head Start children and families for medical, dental, nutrition, social services, safety and transportation needs
  • Performs home visits to initiate the Family Partnership Agreement and documents family contact and follow-up of services
  • Assists Head Start families in accessing social service programs such as utility assistance, food pantries, clothing resources, crisis intervention and financial assistance
  • Maintain documentation of services
  • Attends all Head Start parent trainings and committee meetings
  • Attend all required Head Start staff development and in-service meetings
  • Other duties as assigned
