Activities Coordinator
The Activities Coordinator is an exciting opportunity for a highly rewarding career in a fast-paced environment. The Activities Coordinator of our Senior Living Community is responsible for the implementation of the activity program for our residents in Memory Care.
Responsibilities:
- Implements activity programs as planned and assigned to meet the functional levels, needs, and interests of each Resident.
- Planning of monthly activity calendar and newsletter, and compilation of and distribution of these Items.
- Assist Resident to and from activity programs and outings.
- Must have availability of occasional nights and weekends.
- Moving of furniture and necessary equipment is sometimes necessary for activities.
- Supervise and direct volunteers as needed.
- Maintains bulletin boards to ensure that information posted is current and organized.
- Maintains good rapport with family members and encourages family support in programs.
- Records Resident's attendance and participation in individual and group activities.
- Provides input to the assessment and evaluation of Residents participation when requested.
- Communicates Resident's concerns and responses to interventions to immediate supervisor.
- Supports Residents individual needs, and preferences, customary routines concerns and choices.
- Assists with escorting Residents to and from activities.
- Works with individual volunteers and volunteer programs.
- Participates in long term care survey process, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
- Participates in on-call rotation.
- Promotes residents' rights, assists Residents to make informed decisions, treats Residents with dignity and respect, protects Residents' personal belongings, reports suspected abuse or neglect, supports independent expression, choice, and decision-making.
- Demonstrates willingness to try new tasks, generates new Ideas for change, evaluates and recognizes priorities, challenges others to learn, keeps current and integrates new information, communicates, and models organization values and fosters high performance.
- Applies process improvement methods and techniques and identifies processes for improvement in daily work.
- Demonstrates understanding of fire and emergency procedures, participates in fire and disaster drills, demonstrates understanding of procedures, applies and precautions, demonstrates understanding of hazardous materials plan and demonstrates proper use of equipment.
- Applies hand washing principles during daily work, demonstrates understanding of isolation precautions, complies with the employee health program, demonstrates understanding of the process for identifying and handling infectious waste, maintains personal hygiene, complies with OSHA standards in the workplace and demonstrates understanding of cross-contamination.
- Records data timely. Promotes confidentiality of Resident information.
- Demonstrates active listening techniques, gains support through effective relationships, treats others with dignity and respect and seeks feedback.
- Attends in-service and education programs.
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop or kneel. The employee on occasion will assist to lift and/or transfer Residents following facility protocols for use of mechanical and transfer devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.
- The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GEO), or one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication.
- Ability to work with basic mathematical problems.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
