Job Summary:
CAPA is looking for an experience Controller that can prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and other related financial activities.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Performs general cost accounting, accounting records, receivable, payables, credit and collections and other related duties in daily administration.
- Maintains general ledger to include the preparation of journal entries, coding of invoices, accounts analysis and reconciliation, closing books monthly, and setting up new accounts.
- Responsible for weekly cash flow report.
- Performs bank reconciliation monthly, verifies all deposits, and addresses questions and problems from banking institutions.
- Monitor financial activities and details such as reserve levels to ensure that all transfer of funds are handled correctly.
- Responsible for preparation of financial statements for several of the companies under CAPA.
- Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, and current accounting standards.
- Receive, record, and authorize requests for disbursements in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Assists outside auditors at year-end to include preparing schedules, invoices, providing explanation of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing any other necessary data.
- Supervises accounts payable duties such as verifying all invoices for payment, ensuring expenditures are charged to appropriate accounts.
- Maintains records of all financial documents with appropriate supporting material. updates records as necessary.
- Oversees vendor issues when A/P cannot resolve issues.
- Identifies company and personal property tax assessments for Hidalgo Co. & Cameron Co. for protests.
- Other duties as assigned by owners.
Education Requirements/Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required
- Must have 2 plus years with managerial skills to supervise a staff of 4-5 employees
- Ability to perform computations with reasonable speed and accuracy
- Strong Management, delegation and communication skills
- 3-5 years accounting experience plus knowledge of computerized accounting systems, and good organizational skills
