What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructor Assistant position at CAPA?
Primary Function
The Instructor Assistant is responsible for supporting Patternz Program Instructors in a variety of settings. This position assists with creating learning objectives, facilitating camp, and assisting in the development and implementation of curriculum and age-appropriate activities that nurture childrens curiosity, understanding, and appreciation of the performing and visual arts. The Instructor Assistant is an active participant in all camp activities with the goal of creating a memorable camp experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties vary and are dependent on the assigned area. Duties may include:

Supports Lead Instructors in classroom instruction and management.

Reviews class material with students.

Shows enthusiasm and encourages campers to get involved in all camp activities.

Assists the Lead Instructor, Activities Assistant, and all other camp staff and students with rehearsing and performing their end of the week mini show.

Meets change with creativity and flexibility and can create new activities quickly.

Leads fun activities and games throughout the camp day.

Assists with documenting all injuries and incidents that occur during summer camp and provides basic first aid to campers as required.

Serves as a role model and monitors the health, safety, and welfare of children, communicating frequently with the Program Administrator.

Attends necessary training sessions.

Represents the Lincoln Theatre in the best possible light through a high standard of professionalism, conduct, and appropriate dress.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to apply both learned and experiential knowledge to the development of children

Ability to collaborate with diverse disciplines.
Credentials and Experience

High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

2-4 years experience working with children and/or youth preferred.
Special Requirements
This position will require a satisfactory background check based upon current industry standards for individuals working with youth.
