Reporting to the Director of Information Technology Services (ITS) Project Management Office (PMO), the Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with business units’ strategy, commitments and goals. Coordinates the work of other ITS professionals and functional staff to complete projects that are significant in cost, scope and impact. Helps refine, implement and champion the methodologies, processes and practices established by the Project Management Office. The Project Manager is a customer-centric strategic thinker with the ability to drive the successful delivery of highly visible, sensitive and multi-faceted projects. The ideal candidate for the Project Manager position has the ability to manage and coordinate projects and key initiatives from kick-off to closure by utilizing project management methodologies and working closely with all levels of management throughout the project to ensure all responsible parties and resources understand the scope and deliverables of the project. Ability to provide clear guidance, measure project health and team effectiveness and lead mitigation strategies
Description:
- Manages several projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery is on-time, in-scope and within budget.
- Develops, collects, reviews and maintains all project & change management documentation in accordance with the ITS PMO framework. This includes artifacts such as project plans, project charters, approved scope, risk assessments, change request forms, test scripts, risk and issue logs, etc.
- Applies project management techniques to projects and activities, including (but not limited to) detail planning, task management, risk identification, issue escalation and resolution, contingency planning and both capital and operating budget management.
- Manage day to day project activities ensuring deliverables are met, risks are identified and assessed, and issues are managed and resolved.
- Plan, lead and facilitate project team meetings.
- Coordinates internal and external resource availability and allocation.
- Measures project performance and quality using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.
- Ensures the project status, issues and successes are documented appropriately and communicated to the project team, stakeholders, sponsors, governance committee(s) and various levels organizational leadership.
- Communicates risks using the most appropriate channel(s) and maintains regular check-ins with project sponsors to mitigate or resolve risks.
- Develops and manages working relationships with key business stakeholders by effectively communicating project status, issues, and associated risk on a frequent basis
- Works jointly with the project team to design test plans, scenarios and use cases for integration, regression and user acceptance testing.
- Contributes, refines and follows agreed upon project management methodologies, processes and practices established by the PMO.
- Serve as a project management mentor to department resources leading small and medium sized projects.
- Serve on CCHC committees and task forces as directed.
- Assume other duties as directed.
- Challenges current working practices; identifies process improvement opportunities and presents recommendations and solutions to management. Engages and commits to the organization’s culture of continuous improvement by actively participating, supporting, and promoting CCHC Pillars of Excellence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Management, Health Care Administration or health care related field required or an equivalent amount of related experience and education obtained that demonstrated the necessary skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position
- Five to seven years direct project management experience including managing complex projects from start to finish, preferably in a healthcare environment
- PMI or other project management certification preferred
- Experience leading a project team without direct authority, keeping team focused and discussions moving forward, resolve conflicts with both internal and external audiences as well as invoke a level of confidence to various department leaders and levels of management
- Ability to produce clear and timely project documentation and artifacts
- Exceptional communication skills providing professional, concise, articulate and audience appropriate information in both verbal and written form.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills including the ability to work independently, prioritize work and manage multiple competing demands.
- Strong leadership, through expert knowledge of project management, relationship-building, problem-solving, and effective communication
- Ability to lead discussion, manage conflict, and facilitate cross-departmental group decision-making at all levels of the organization
- Ability to lead external vendors through a successful implementation of their solutions
- Experience successfully managing various projects from kick-off through completion, with an outstanding grasp of information technology concepts and processes.
- Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of CCHC professionals and external users, including senior management and physicians, as well as outside vendors and consultants
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Project, Visio, etc.
