We are looking for an energetic, professional, and creative graphic designer and communications coordinator to join our growing team.

This position is part of the development (fundraising) team at CFHFH and reports to the Director of Development and also has the support of an AmeriCorps member. The individual will work closely with the development team to communicate CFHFH’s mission, impact and messaging with the purpose of creating materials and coordinating communications with donors, homeowners, volunteers and the general public to raise funds for and create awareness and engagement with Cape Fear Habitat. This is an on-site position, with one remote day every other week, or as needed.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Passion for the Habitat mission and ability to work collaboratively to help achieve it.
  • Experience and strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Canva. Video editing is a plus.
  • Create professional design for a variety of marketing and advertising channels including, but not limited to, social media, print, email, web, logos, large format signage, sales collateral and tradeshows.
  • Maintain Habitat’s strong brand through consistent use of fonts, colors and styles in all materials.
  • Ensure that well-composed photos and video are taken at Habitat events and functions. Communicate well with volunteers, donors, staff, homeowners and others to arrange well-composed, compelling photos. Utilize assets to produce compelling video and written communications.
  • Maintain and update CFHFH website, regularly integrating new content and ensuring functionality and enhanced user experience. Lead a website redesign within the next 6-9 months.
  • Interview homeowners and other stakeholders to produce compelling written and video messaging.
  • Work with printers, apparel producers, and other vendors to secure estimates and order print and collateral material. Process invoices in a timely manner.
  • Catalog all assets in a timely manner to ensure that logos, photos, video and produced materials are saved and well-organized.
  • Provide copywriting for marketing materials, press releases, newsletters and website, in collaboration with other departments and team members.
  • Manage and provide direction for AmeriCorps member.
  • Provide support for all events, fundraising programs and projects, as requested.
  • Utilize volunteers and/or interns to implement programs, as needed.
  • Design a high volume of projects and assets for all departments at CFHFH.
  • Stay updated on design trends, technical design developments and brand guidelines to maintain high-quality design and cutting-edge, polished, and consistent content.
  • Nonprofit experience a plus.
  • Work occasional nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Perform all other duties, as assigned.
Position Requirements:
  • Commitment to the Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity’s mission and the desire to promote it
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience a minimum of three years progressively responsible experience.
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of a variety of design, communications and project management software.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate with and inspire a diverse group of volunteers, staff, clients and donors.
  • Collaborate comfortably among the development team, throughout the organization and with external groups.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple responsibilities and groups of stakeholders and adapt to changing schedules and needs.
  • Experience with graphic design and skilled in using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite and Word Press required. Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience using social media to promote ideas and messages; ability to utilize Google Ads and Google Analytics.
  • Meet all deadlines agreed upon with the DoD and the Development Team.
  • Ability to perform physical duties: stand, walk, sit, lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Satisfactory results on sex offender/criminal background screen and pre-employment drug screen.
