ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Transports patients in a safe and efficient manner according to Safety Guidelines and  
• Universal Precaution Practices.
• Operates and maintains transport equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Completes and submits daily time log.                         
• Functions as dispatcher as assigned, receiving transport requests, logging same, assigning transporter.
• Operates the hospital vehicle in a safe and proper manner maintaining cleanliness of vehicle and logging trips.
• Transports deceased patients to morgue and assists laboratory personnel with transfer.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

• Cross trains to function within the specific sections of the department, i.e., printshop and mailroom and, functions as assigned.
• Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner.            
• Performs other duties as assigned, in an accurate and timely manner.

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:

• High school graduate or equivalent. 
• Valid New Jersey Driver's license.
• Ability to work independently when necessary. 
• CPR certification required or willingness to obtain within 2 months.
• Interpersonal skills must be well-developed. 
• Should possess the initiative and the ability to set and achieve high standards of performance. 
• Ability to make progress on multiple assignments under time constraints. 
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing. 
• Ability to learn specific job duties and complete detailed work assignments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift and carry heavy objects approximately 50 pounds.  Must have dexterity of hands and fingers in order to utilize tools, utensils, equipment, etc.  Ability to push or pull heavy objects, approximately 50 pounds, in a timely manner.  Ability to kneel, bend, or stoop, in order to complete job responsibilities at very low or floor levels.  Ability to walk around and maneuver comfortably in Hospital areas for inspection, transporting, etc.  of Hospital property.  Ability to climb, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, etc. Ability to visually perceive depth, distance, quality of work, read material, view documents, etc.  Ability to hear inquiries from patients, physicians, clients, or staff.  Ability to withstand high frequency noises or sounds of varying tones.
