Position Summary
The Senior Construction Services Administrator (SCSA) will be responsible for supporting the Construction Services Manager with both draw and loan funding management. The incumbent will be the point person for a team of construction service administrators. They will monitor construction loans per lending and underwriting guidelines and will communicate with borrowers and/or loan officers to evaluate funding requests. The SCSA will review construction contracts and general contractor applications for payment. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, effective communication skills (written and verbal), experience managing third-party vendors, draw request analysis/processing, budget analysis/oversight, and monitoring monthly interest payments.
The SCSA will report to the Construction Services Manager and collaborate with the closing, loan servicing, lending, legal, portfolio, and treasury teams. This position may be hybrid or remote and is based out of the Arlington, VA office.
Essential Responsibilities
- Manage the risks associated with construction lending through analysis, review and monitoring of each loan and legal documentation examination, while maintaining effective communication with lending staff.
- Collaborate with members of the Closing and Construction Teams, outside vendors, borrowers, construction professionals, and loan officers to manage CIP’s construction loan closings and portfolio per lending policies and guidelines.
- Oversee and coordinate post-closing follow-up requirements such as post-close draw overview process meeting with borrowers and lenders.
- Assist the Construction Services Manager with training and supporting the Construction Services Administrators, internal staff, and borrowers on the details of the organization’s disbursement process.
- Develop templates used for the disbursement of loan funds throughout the construction phase.
- Create reports, data entry and manage construction projects in the construction management/draw online management system (Rabbet).
- Manage disbursement, corrections and resolutions in the financial system (Reval).
- Research and identify “budget out of balance” risks.
- Establish open construction reserve accounts during/post construction consistent with the loan documents.
- Autonomously administer draws and service a portfolio of active construction loans that have multiple capital stacks.
- Provides an excellent customer centered experience for each borrower.
Professional Skills, Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 6 years of experience in commercial construction lending, OR Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in construction management, construction documentation, construction loan closings, and real estate administration.
- Candidates must have sufficient knowledge of loan-legal documentation.
- Candidates must have demonstrated operational execution skills (planning, project management, problem-solving, etc.) with strong analytical, detail-oriented, and judgment skills.
- Ability to work through complicated loan disbursement requirements.
- Knowledge of the construction finance industry with strong budgeting skills and financial acumen.
- Demonstrate interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Strong written and oral communication skills (e.g., presentations, conference calls, virtual meetings, periodic reports).
- Proficient in Microsoft programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite (e.g., Google Docs, Sheets).
- Demonstrated ability to translate construction and legal requirements.
- Ability to travel 10% or less required.
