What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at Capstone Nutrition?
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversight of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Manage Concur expense reporting and processes.
- Serve as backup to the Controller in all G/L transactions posting, standard journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Maintain records of approved capital projects including copies of all invoices for fixed assets. Enter new capital projects in the computer system. Record all approved asset disposals. Reconcile fixed asset accounts to fixed asset system subsidiary records each month. Review depreciation calculations. Prepare depreciation estimates by G/L account for the annual budget.
- Provide audit support as well as financial close support.
- Act as a resource to operations, finance and purchasing regarding accounting issues, reporting and analysis and other duties as assigned.
- Assist in calculation of cost savings for budget and measurement of actual savings.
- Report monthly budget versus actual expenditures.
- Accurate and timely recording of information on specified documents.
- Proper use and care of equipment and materials issued to work area.
Requirements
2-5 years professional accounting experience. Previous general ledger accounting and process manufacturing experience is preferable.
- CPA is preferred.
- Public accounting experience is required.
- Post Graduate MBA or MACC degree is preferable.
- Previous experience in nutraceutical or pharmaceutical industry preferred.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing and/or contract manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with ERP software is preferable.
- Experience with JD Edwards is preferable.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office and Microsoft Applications.
- Strong working knowledge and experience with spreadsheets and word processing.
- Extremely organized.
- Must have team-building and leadership skills.
- Ability to resolve and handle difficult challenges and issues.
- Ability to be confidential.
- Ability to deal with periodic levels of highly stressful situations associated with handling difficult issues and challenges.
- Must be able to travel as needed.
- Exceptional proficiency and ability to utilize and maximize Excel.
- Must be able to understand, speak, read and write in English in order to perform the essential functions of the job as they relate to comprehension of laws, regulations, standards, documents and other internal and external communications.
Work Conditions
- Regularly subject to normal office environment.
- Occasionally subject to normal warehouse and production environment.
- Occasionally subject to high noise levels where hearing protection is required and all personnel protective equipment is required.
- Occasionally subject to atmospheric conditions, such as fumes, odors, powders, dust and other particles.
