Peace Camp Outdoor Recreation Instructor

Job Title: Peace Camp Outside Recreation Activity Instructor (Part Time, Non-Exempt)

Hiring Range: $21.00 an hour

Job Summary:

The Peace Camp Outside Recreation Activity Instructor assists the Camp Director with daily camp activities and the Family Celebration program. The Outside Recreation Activity Instructor prepares and executes outside recreation activities for the three grade-specific daily rotations. The Outside Recreation Activity Instructor reports directly to the Camp Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Plans and executes daily outdoor recreational Camp activities

· Attends staff training

· Assists with Parent/Camper Orientation Night and Family Celebration Programs

· Assists Camp Director with supervision of campers and assigned staff

· Participates in daily staff meetings during Camp session

· Prepares age appropriate activities for the sixteen days of Camp (2 sessions)

· Works with Camp Director, as needed, in implementing individual behavioral modification plans

· Participate in daily morning program

· Performs other related duties as required by Camp Director.

Skills Required:

• Ability to work with all adolescents as well as adults
• Positive image for CAPTAIN CHS and a dedicated youth advocate.
• Able to have flexible, irregular work hours.
• Able to multi-task and work in a team environment.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from a four year college with Bachelor Degree in education, special education or activity related field
• Associates Degree in human service or specialized activity area field with experience in working with children in grades 1-6
• Extensive experience with special needs children, grades 1-6 in a structured group setting relating to specialized activity area
• An equivalent combination of training and experience as indicated in qualifications above
• Good communication and organizational skills; ability to work with adolescents as well as children
