The Company

Since its creation, Cardiac Study Center (CSC) has contracted with Pulse Heart Institute for outpatient cardiology and billing services. CSC is a proud partner of Pulse, and has provided outpatient cardiology services in the Puget Sound Region for over 50 years. CSC partnered with MultiCare Health System to create Pulse Heart Institute in 2016 to work toward improving the health of cardiac patients.

Cardiac Device Specialist Environment, Geography and Shift details
:

This role is full-time, with 4- 10-hour shifts Monday through Friday (flexible start/ end times), closed weekends and holidays. It would require occasionally floating between clinics in Olympia, Tacoma, Auburn, and Puyallup.


Cardiac Device Specialist Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience as a Device Technician, Monitor/Telemetry, Electrophysiology, or Cardiovascular Technologist with in-depth cardiac device knowledge.
  • Strong skills in cardiac rhythm recognition and effective communication.
  • Proficiency in device interrogations and programming (Pacemakers, ICDs, Loop Recorders, home monitor equipment).
  • Formal training in cardiac electrophysiology/cardiovascular technology, or significant experience in cardiac pacing/electrophysiology (2 years minimum) or device monitoring (5 years minimum).
  • At least 1 year of cardiac services experience, with a preference for cardiac device-specific experience.
  • Advanced skills in cardiac rhythm interpretation and pacemaker/ICD analysis, with previous vendor interaction preferred.


Cardiac Device Specialist Position Summary


The Cardiac Device Specialist, part of the Heart Rhythm/Device Department, focuses on device interrogations and programming for cardiac devices under supervision. They manage patient data, educate patients on cardiac care, and respond to emergencies, making crucial clinical decisions under physician protocol.

Cardiac Device Specialist Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for device interrogation, ensuring informed consent and patient education.
  • Conduct a range of cardiac device interrogations/programming, including assessments and arrhythmia evaluation under physician protocol.
  • Document clinical history and test summaries in the electronic medical record.
  • Operate and troubleshoot industry programmers/software, manage device patient software, and respond to emergencies.
  • Coordinate daily workflow, educate patients on devices, and ensure accurate billing and coding.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

Cardiac Study Center/ Pulse Heart Institute provides a comprehensive benefits package, including a competitive salary, medical, dental, and retirement benefits, and paid time off. As various pay transparency laws require, CSC/ PHI shares a competitive compensation range for candidates hired into each position. The starting pay for this position is $43.00, and the pay scale is $64.03 - $49.82 USD depending on experience and education.

However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.

Job Qualifications: Highly experienced Device Technician, Monitor/Telemetry, Electrophysiology or Cardiovascular Technologist or other job-related experience requiring extensive cardiac device knowledge is required. This role is for someone who demonstrates strong cardiac rhythm recognition skills and has excellent written and verbal skills to communicate with peers and physicians alike. Must have the ability to perform device interrogations, programming of Pacemakers, Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators, Loop Recorders, and home monitor equipment.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience: Successfully completed a formal comprehensive training program to become a cardiac electrophysiology or cardiovascular technologist or ICD/Pacemaker technician that included a minimum of 6 months didactic training and exposure to the field. OR Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of cardiac pacing or electrophysiology with direct exposure to patient cases in the clinical or industry setting or exposure to technical cases in the industry setting. OR Have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a cardiac device tech, monitor/telemetry tech, electrophysiology tech, cardiovascular tech or other job-related experience for device monitoring. A minimum of 1-year experience in cardiac services required; 1-year cardiac device specific experience preferred. Advanced cardiac rhythm interpretation and pacemaker/ICD analysis skills required. Previous third-party industry vendor interaction is preferred.

Certificates and Licenses: One of these certifications through the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) or through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) is required or must be able to obtain within 2 years of hire. Acceptable certifications/credentials are NASPE, CCDS, CEPS, or RCES. Current state licensure as an RN with electrophysiology training or MD training is also acceptable in lieu of the above credentials. Must have current CPR/BLS certification. ACLS in addition to CPR/BLS is preferred.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations.

Math Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance.

Job Description Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
