What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal's Secretary position at CAREER CENTER?
Qualifications:
Principal's Secretary shall have at least a high school diploma. Post-Secondary school training or equivalent secretarial work experience is desirable. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational, communications and computer skills; positive communication with students, parents, visitors, and staff, both via phone, electronic and in person; complete work accurately and in a timely manner; and have the ability to work well independently or with others. An acceptable score on a pre-employment test may be required. Previous secretarial work experience in a school setting is preferred.
Duties:
- Directly responsible to gather, input, submit and maintain all state required DASL and ProgressBook info. Coordinates data, records, and files with home schools. Coordinates the transfer of data between high school office and the EMIS Coordinator. Monitors compliance with state guidelines. Maintains all required records (e.g., pupil demographics, academic courses, student testing information, attendance, etc.)
- Prepares and the enter requisitions, letters, memos, computer documents, notes, E-mails, bulk mailings, etc. Processes incoming, outgoing and interoffice mail and faxes. Maintains calendars/schedules as directed. Maintains a systematic filing system that supports the efficient retrieval of records. Performs back up procedures to safeguard electronic/digital information.
- Keeps the administrators/guidance aware of work progress and pending deadlines. Works with administrators and guidance counselor completing and/or filing paperwork, and other tasks related to the office. Follows office protocols. Monitors record keeping procedures to ensure a consistent standard for the accurate and timely collection, verification, recording, and retention of program data. Assists in the maintaining of student records and retention.
- Conceptualizes, evaluates, prioritizes and solves complex problems independently. Follows complex instructions and recognizes/corrects errors independently.
- Participates in cross-training with emphasis on attendance and other duties of the receptionist. Attends various workshops and conferences as required. Helps train staff as needed. Maintains office supplies as needed.
- Provides technical support for student scheduling activities. Provides assistance to students in regards to illness and the use of the clinic.
Contract:
2024-2025 contract for 220 contracted days, during the school year with benefits, 8 hours per day (7:30am-3:30pm), including 8 paid holidays.
Salary:
Placement on the Secretarial Board Adopted Salary Schedule.
