CLAIMS SUPERVISOR

Leading insurance company in Nassau county seeks an experienced claims leader to supervise, train and develop a team of Claims Analysts, relaying and supporting senior management objectives, ensuring the best practices and claims processing guidelines are followed, providing financial monitoring/management and evaluating and improving department processes.

MEDICAL MALPRACTICE OR PROFESSIONAL LIABIILTY REQUIRED

AUTO, G/L, MEDICAL (INSURANCE) AND W/C CLAIMS EXPERIENCE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE

DUTIES:

• Collaborates with senior claims staff ensuring that all technical and administrative aspects of claims handling are appropriately and accurately handled, including case summaries, diary maintenance, reserve adequacy, d/e, electronic filing of correspondence, maintenance of Watch List and Event Calendar, coverage investigation, case settlement, trial management, timely file closure and regulatory compliance
• Ensure integrity and accuracy in all aspects of claims handling
• Develop the team, including leading mandatory training, developing strategies for performance management and ensuring KPIs are met.
• Must possess overall understanding of all aspects of insurance including coverage, liability and damage analysis, reinsurance, trends, legal liability, analysis (reserves, legal liability, defenses, open/close ratio etc.) and claims file management
• Maintain diary of noteworthy files within team and hold regular strategy round tables with claims management and/or legal counsel
• Review management reports for accuracy and relevance
• Maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external business partners

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5 years supervisory claims experience PREFERABLY IN MEDICAL LIABLITY INDUSTRY, showcasing strong performance management and leadership experience and successes
• Bachelor's Degree HIGHLY valued
• Previous claims processing experience in either medical malpractice or professional liability
• Experience in high severity lines of business with high settlement ranges
• MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), e-Oasis, OnBase
