WEC Business Services LLC, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Gas Buyer in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin location.
Job Summary
The Gas Buyer/Sr Gas Buyer is responsible for daily and monthly trading and scheduling of utility and gas-fired generation natural gas supply. This person must perform load forecasts, develop optimal daily and monthly supply and trading strategies, find opportunities to realize value for un-utilized assets, and accurately schedule transaction on internal and external systems. Compliance with FERC, State, and Company rules and policies is critical to this role. This position includes evening and weekend on-call responsibilities.
This position may work weekends and evening hours on a rotating basis.
Job Responsibilities
Forecast natural gas demand and determine a supply strategy for current day/month.- Develop daily gas nomination plan and implement plan through actual nominations to pipelines and storage operators.
- Work with counterparts at natural gas wholesalers, pipelines, and other utilities.
- Enter trades into accounting system and reconcile pipeline flow data to ensure accuracy.
- Work with Planning, Contracts, Accounting, and Billing to serve customers reliably while minimizing cost.
- Execute financial transactions via broker to hedge financial price risk. Fully comply with internal risk management guidelines such as credit and trading limits, and provide timely reporting, to minimize financial risks to company.
- Understand and comply with State and Federal energy policy.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Business, Engineering, or Related Area with a minimum of two years of experience with commodity procurement, logistics, scheduling, financial analysis, or regulatory experience. A minimum of five years equivalent natural gas buying/scheduling experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree- Minimum of 2 yrs. relevant business, utility, planning, scheduling, regulatory or logistics experience (internship/co-op experience may be included as relevant
- Excellent teamwork skills to function in highly team oriented process
- Strong math and analytical skills to address daily logistical and economic situations
- Sense of urgency and ability to handle stress to meet multiple daily deadlines
- Knowledge of gas markets and ability to develop rapport with Trading Partners over the phone
- Strong customer focus and attention to detail to properly support Accounting and Billing of Transactions
- Record of personal responsibility in handling assets with high economic value
- Ability to apply sound judgment under time pressure to operate within regulations and internal policies
