We are looking for a HQS inspector to work in the Augusta, GA location ASAP.
PAY: $18-$19/HR. With a raise one permanent and great benefits.
About the Position:
Join a dynamic Public Housing Agency committed to providing high-quality, affordable housing solutions. We are in search of a motivated and detail-oriented HQS Inspector to ensure compliance with housing standards in our Housing Choice Voucher Program.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Administration, the HQS Inspector plays a vital role in ensuring units comply with Federal Regulations and local housing standards. This position requires maintaining positive relationships with private landlords and compassionate interactions with residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect buildings' physical condition for program eligibility; re-inspect as needed.
- Engage with landlords and realtors to secure standard housing for program residents.
- Address safety and housing standard violations effectively.
- Resolve complaints regarding lease agreement non-compliance.
- Conduct scheduled and required home visits.
- Negotiate rents and perform rent reasonableness comparisons.
- Manage daily inquiries regarding the HQS process and public interactions.
- Participate in landlord briefings and provide information on housing regulations.
- Undertake additional tasks as necessary for the Housing Authority's objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Public Housing Agency operations and HUD regulations.
- Familiarity with real estate, building maintenance, and life safety codes.
- Strong problem-solving, judgment, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and building specifications.
- Effective communication skills and adaptability in varied conditions.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in housing inspection or a related field.
- Certification in building inspection or relevant areas.
- Analytical skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
