Special Education Paraprofessional
Summary
Responsible for planning, developing, delivering and evaluating appropriate individualized educational services, learning programs and instruction for special needs students in both self-contained and integrated settings in consultation with other school personnel. This position will be responsible for servicing each school within the Career Success Services district.
Main Job Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
Works with students, both in-group settings or individually, for the purpose of assisting with specific instructional tasks
- Assists teachers in handling and updating confidential student information such as IEPs and other related documents
- Administers tests to students for the purpose of assessing progress towards meeting educational objectives
- Adapts classroom work under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of providing a method of support and/or reinforce lesson plan.
- Monitors activities of students, both inside and outside of the classroom for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment
- Provide support in management and behavior of students
- Maintain awareness of physical and emotional changes in students and reports concerns to the teacher, as appropriate
- Assists teacher in maintaining student records of medical needs and academic progress
- Operates a variety of office and instructional equipment, such as computers.
Must be able to meet and interact with employees, parent/guardians, and other staff members and community members, which requires tact, discretion, professionalism, confidentiality, and courtesyPrepare instructional materials and other materials according to Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) * Utilize appropriate methods of learning delivery and instructional support to meet the needs of each student in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)
- Instruct students on socially acceptable behaviors and personal development skills
- Maintain accurate and complete records in compliance with school district regulations and legal requirements through use of on-line or digital special education tracking programs
- Maintain a current knowledge of special education best practices and trends
- Other duties as needed and assigned
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of a High School Diploma, an Associate’s degree in the appropriate field is highly recommended or at least 2 years of college course completion, have passed or the ability to pass the required paraprofessional certification assessment
- Level 1 IVP Arizona Fingerprint card
- Experience with working with special education document software, such as e-IEP-PRO
- Ability to work with students with disabling conditions.
- Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district, State and Federal requirements and School Board Policies
- Knowledge and understanding of State, local and federal regulations and policies affecting special education

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
