Global company producing ready-to-eat baby food for infants from 4 months to 3 years. New plant, state-of-the art equipment supplying customers with a wide range of solid, organic baby food products; pouch fruits, stews, vegetable purees and baby meals. 5 lines, 3-shift, 7-day plant employing 125.
Responsibilities:
Purchasing responsibility includes: energy, chemicals, sanitation, furniture and contracts, spare parts, PPE, office furniture, production and maintenance services, waste management, IT supplies, supply chain lift trucks, laboratory and R&D furniture, packaging material, transportation, Capex, and maintenance contracts.
Work with lead buyer to implement and manage the purchasing strategy for packaging and transportation with the goal to buy the best quality at the lowest cost. Administer, review, manage, file, evaluate, analyze, and negotiate with consideration to manufacturing and storage constraints as well as cash flow.
Maintain suppliers and materials on price changes, specs, new suppliers and keep up to date.
Negotiate or renegotiate to obtain the lowest price and best conditions for above categories.
Assist in developing and implementing purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
Maintain data about packaging, Capex and maintenance, and suppliers up to date.
Compile data from variety of sources for analyzing and ensuring you have identified all opportunities for cost savings on packaging, transport, and indirect purchase cost.
Participate with Quality in reviewing and assessing our suppliers, handling quality claims and supplier reimbursement with relational contact.
Qualifications:
BS/BA.
5 years’ experience within Purchasing, Buyer, Sourcing, Procurement Management Role.
Experience with buying packaging for processing industry.
Proven negotiating skills.
