Safety Manager Job Responsibilities
- Enhance, strengthen, and codify existing safety policies, and develop new policies to address any gaps in safety standards.
- Conduct thorough physical inspections of the facility, including office areas, shops, and storage spaces, to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Oversee the safe storage of equipment, proper use of tools, ladder safety, lockout/tagout procedures, and appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Manage periodic employee training programs, including corrections and updates as needed.
- Maintain meticulous records of training, compliance, incident reports, and safety policies.
- Liaise with customers regarding the safety training records of technicians before on-site work.
- Inspect and review the condition of shop machinery, providing recommendations for repairs or replacements.
- Regularly visit other company locations (approximately three times per year) for policy implementation and oversight.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in safety management within an industrial environment.
- Familiarity with ISN, Avetta, or similar safety record-keeping software is advantageous.
- Strong organizational, communication, and self-directing skills.
- Ability to use initiative to discover, develop, and reinforce safety policies.
- Background in facilities management, with exposure to industrial machinery and shop environments.
- Robust administrative skills and basic knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Safety-related certifications are beneficial but not mandatory.
