Director, Supply Chain in Albuquerque, NM

Curia provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. 

This role is responsible for the management of Production and Materials Planning, Inventory Control, Sales and Operations Planning, Procurement, Warehouse Operations and Logistics (inbound and outbound). This position will also be a member of the site Leadership Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct the work of the Master Scheduler / Planners, Warehouse Manager, and Procurement Manager.  Ensures all provide expertise and assist functional leads in identifying risks and evaluating capacities required to support production requirements. This includes materials, utilities, storage and other capacities as well.
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPI) / metrics and dashboard(s) to measure site execution, customer service, procurement, warehouse, and overall Supply Chain performance.
  • Embraces continuous improvement in all Supply Chain activities and works with global support teams ensure alignment in a one Curia approach.   
  • Responsible for the management of all site materials throughout the product lifecycle, from introduction to obsolescence.  Ensures a high level of costing accuracy and aggressively manages material inventories in support of a favorable cash flow position. 
  • Responsible for determination of constraints through debottlenecking analysis, soliciting input from appropriate members of the local and corporate teams 
  • This position will liaise with Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and Project Management and Customers.  The Director of Supply Chain must be able to negotiate and implement lean processes while maintaining relationships with customers in other functional groups. This individual must work proactively to optimize processes by developing creative solutions.
  • Responsible for development and implementation of a Master Production, Materials and Capacity Planning, Scheduling organization to support the Manufacturing Facility.
  • Ensure accurate system inputs and utilize the ERP system to provide for timely visibility and tracking of material requirements and the status of finished goods throughout the supply chain.
  • Facilitates daily review of critical site manufacturing requirements; working with all functional groups to prioritize and expedite in support of critical client / patient requirements if necessary.  
  • Utilizes a collaborative and consensus approach to ensure customer needs are well-represented and met.
  • Performs other job duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:                                              

Directly supervises the Master Scheduler, Procurement Manager, and Warehouse Manager.

Education and/or Experience:                                             

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related technical field. 
  • Minimum of 7 years in Supply Chain, Materials Management, and / or Procurement required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and / or regulated industry required.
  • APICS or CSCP certifications preferred.

Language Skills:                                           

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:                                                 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:                                                    

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:                                                       

Knowledge of Internet software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Other Skills and Abilities:                                                   

  • Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to organize time in order to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Experience with leading/managing staff and operations professionals. 
  • Demonstrated accomplishments towards meeting/exceeding established goals.
  • Knowledge/experience with ERP systems including Oracle, SAP, and JD Edwards is preferred.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives; and risk of radiation and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
