Job Description

Science and Technology Corporation (STC) is a well-established company based in Hampton, VA who has been delivering an extensive range of award-winning advanced scientific, engineering, and technical support services to the U.S. Government and industry customers for over 40 years. STC has multiple contracts with NASA, NOAA and the Department of Defense and provide expertise in areas including aerospace engineering, earth and atmospheric sciences, chemical and biological defense, military systems and technology, and electronic assembly and hardware fabrication. STC is currently seeking an Accounting Technician to join its corporate team in Hampton, VA. This is a general staff accounting position that reports to the Accounting Manager and duties will vary based on immediate needs. Government contracting and FAR regulations experience is highly desired. Knowledge of Deltek Costpoint or other similar government contracting software a plus.

Essential Job Functions:

• Reconciliation of trial balance accounts.
• Prepare monthly recurring journal entries and assist with monthly closings
• Assist in preparing monthly financial reports
• Assist in annual audits
• Maintain fixed assets and government furnished property
• Assist with accounts payable or receivable processing when needed
• Review and process employee travel expense reports
• Review the processing of cash receipts and bank deposits
• Conduct clerical duties such as filing, scanning, faxing and photocopying

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
• Basic accounting skills and strong attention to detail.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Excel and Word required.
• Experience with government furnished property a plus.
