Chief Dietitian Position Overview:
The Grove at Valhalla Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking an experienced and dedicated Chief Dietitian to lead the nutritional care and dietary services within our Long Term Care Facility. The Chief Dietitian will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive dietary programs that promote the health and well-being of our residents. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of clinical nutrition, and the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
Chief Dietitian Responsibilities:
Develop and implement dietary plans that align with residents' medical conditions, dietary restrictions, and preferences.
Lead a team of dietitians and dietary staff to ensure high-quality nutritional care and meal services.
Assess residents' nutritional needs, conduct regular nutritional screenings, and develop individualized care plans.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize residents' nutritional therapy and overall health.
Stay up-to-date with the latest research and trends in clinical nutrition and dietary practices, and integrate this knowledge into the facility's programs.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of dietary interventions, making adjustments as needed to ensure positive outcomes.
Maintain accurate documentation of residents' nutritional assessments, care plans, and progress.
Oversee the development and modification of menus that meet residents' nutritional requirements and preferences, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Manage dietary budgets, inventory, and procurement of food and supplies.
Provide education and training to staff, residents, and families on nutrition, dietary guidelines, and special dietary needs.
Participate in facility-wide quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance activities.
Stay informed about and ensure adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations related to dietary services.
Chief Dietitian Qualifications:
Registered Dietitian (RD) with a valid license to practice in the state.
Master's degree in Nutrition or related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a clinical dietitian, with demonstrated leadership and management skills.
Strong knowledge of clinical nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, and dietary guidelines for older adults.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and nutrition software.
Understanding of long-term care regulations and compliance standards.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
